With just one more month to go, the DELA Beach Volleyball European Championship will start. All teams are preparing themselves in the best way possible, just like the Swiss duo Joana Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré. The team, who has lately been in great form, has a chance of taking the European title.
In pool C Heidrich/Vergé-Dépré are, amongst others, going to play against the Dutch team Sinnema/Bloem. They will also play a match against their compatriots, Eiholzer/Steinemann. Joana and Anouk, who call each other ‘Jo’ and ‘Nouk’ on the field, are excited about the European Championships: ‘’We want to execute a good team performance, and win a medal!
Lately, everything is going well with Heidrich/Vergé-Dépré. In April they won the Coop Beach Tour in their own country and last month they became 2nd at the Itapema Beach World Tour tournament in Brazil. Coming up to the European Championships the Swiss duo has a few other matches to play, but they are definitely not afraid that all the travelling will influence their performance: ‘’Playing a lot of matches is useful to get in to a rhythm and we are used to travelling a lot. Only if we really have to travel far away, it’s more difficult to get in to a rhythm because of the jetlag.’’
On their way to a medal, Heidrich/Vergé-dépré expect the most opposition from the German and the Czech teams. On the European ranking the Swiss team only has to tolerate the German team Laboureur/Sude and the Czech team Hermannova/Slukova.
