After a well-deserved resting day as winners of their pool the Spanish favourites to the title today will play against the Polish combination Bryl/Fyalek in the 8th final. The public in Utrecht look forward to a match that equally could have been the final.

In the first set the Spanish run out quickly to an advance of 3 to 4 points. That means danger for the Polish as it has appeared already in the match against Varenhorst/Bouter that the Spanish team in general does not give away the advance no more. Also this time, although the Polish come back for a short time toe 17-16. Herrera/Gavira correct this immediately and get the advantage of the set with 21-19.

Also in the second set the Polish team does not really get through. They try to put more pressure, but stay one point behind all the time. As from the score 7-5 the Spanish run out further and enlarge their advance gradually. Against the pure play of Herrea/Gavira the Polish are not capable enough. The second match point for Spain is game: 21-16

Whether it really is so easy as it looks like? “Absolutely not” say the Spanish. “The resting day yesterday had done us good. We knew that this would be a match with difficulty, so we were extra Sharp. Nou we are going to take our rest so that we can play a good quarterfinal tonight as we surely want to gat in the half final.” The Polish see team Herrera/Gavira as candidates for the title. “During the whole season they play very strong and reach quite often the platform”. Despite their elimination the Polish team is not unsatisfied about their achievement. “We end this season consequently on place 9 of 5. Unfortunately this time again as number 9.”And ending with compliments for the public in Utrecht: “One notices that the public knows how heavy beach volleyball can be. We really have enjoyed it to play here”.
